Now it becomes crystal clear why LL worked so much better in NASH than it did in NAFLD as apparently, there was only minimal CCR5 recruited by the Hepatocytes in NAFLD while in NASH, there is much more CCR5 recruitment . And since it is the recruitment of these Cytokines which leads to inflammation and fibrosis . Therefore, with out recruitment of the Immune System, there is no inflammation nor fibrosis, ie no NASH, you may still have early stages of NAFLD, but without worsening, you won't get the immune system involved. It also becomes much clearer why LL was more effective in reducing fibrosis than steatosis, because LL works on the immune system and the immune system leads to fibrosis more than it leads to steatosis. Steatosis is a result of the malfunctioning hepatocyte Endoplasmic Reticulum due to excess sugars like fructose.
