Continuing my thought about relative age/state of scar tissue, as it relates to CCR5 blockade. I wonder if ‘younger’ scarring that is in the formative stages, is subject to ongoing chemotaxis - for instance along the CCR5/CCL5 axis, facilitating scar formation. While older, ‘entrenched’, fibrotic tissues have gone dormant, no longer chemo-taxis-ing. No longer benefitting from CCR5 blockade.
This could be an argument for early intervention in certain patients. Just a thought.
