I agree with you, no NDA needed for NASH unless there were partnership talks going on, HOWEVER, they could have released the NASH results without disclosing anything to do with a partnership as they just did. What changed between January and now?
Partnership negotiations would be under and NDA but not the NASH results because you'd want to disclose them to all potential partners to make the best deal.
