Epilogue on the "North Pacific" vessel captained by Paul Thompson Jr (son of Mexus' CEO) in gold dredging and before that in submarine cable retrieval. That boat became disabled and was towed from Nome waters to Homer, AK in September 2016 where it was abandoned. It suffered a hull breach when it bottomed on low tide in Homer harbor and was scraped at the city's expense in 2021 for just under $100,000.

The link to a second article is found in the article linked above. The owners are not named in either article but a May 12, 2020 letter from the Homer Harbormaster shows "North Pacific Gold, LLC" as owner and Paul Thompson Jr as president of the LLC.
There is no connection between Mexus Gold and the Alaskan ventures other than thru family relationships and use of the Walnut Grove parts and manufacturing yard.
That prior experience in waters of the Bering Sea and the article posted by Badgerbob point out the need for an experienced crew, a strong boat and and thorough inspection for seaworthness and safety before the dredging season begins. Hope the new boat and crew are equipped for rough seas and winds even in the summer dredging season. Don't want to see anyone injured or another boat diabled.
