PT's folly ??
Getting the barge to Nome is problematic. Only those who have never traveld the ALCAN speak lightly of it. It begins at Dawson Creek B.C, a long way from Walnut Grove, Ca. Approximately 1700 miles to Dawson Creek then 1382 miserable miles to Delta Junction, then another 100 miles to Fairbanks. No road from there to Nome. Once in Fairbanks you can travel to within a few miles of Tanana. How you get the barge into the Yukon river is an unanswered question, so you see, traveling by road is not feasible. Besides the cost of fuel and an extremely high possibility/probability of breakdowns on the road make this unrealistic.
Even getting the barge to south eastern Alaska is daunting.. Towing the scow from San Francisco bay all the way up the California/Oregon/Washington/British Columbia coast is a Herculean job and prohibitively expensive.
Walnut Grove to Nome via ocean route ?? Es no possible jefe.
