I (and others) have mentioned that bad news can be released AFTERHOURS, particularly AFTERHOURS, on Fridays to attempt to bury it, in the context that we were happy last week that no news came out afterhours last Friday.
Key here is AFTERHOURS. This does NOT apply to a Friday morning release.
