when an exec loses their job , they get severance under almost all circumstances except when they break the code of ethics rules of a company, commit a crime or other such activities. failing to deliver on the strategic objective(s) isn't enough to withhold severance . At least in my career where I have seen many peers come and go , I have not seen it withheld unless it maps to what I described above
