I was thinking that most CEOs would much rather resign than be fired (and they are probably most times given the choice), but I can believe that loyal NP did choose being fired for the benefit of the shareholders; if he had resigned the optics would have been terrible (as it always does look terrible when a CEO appears to lose faith in the company and jump ship) and the stock would have tanked this morning. So thank you NP for letting it unfold the way it did!
