With all due respect, my good man, negotiations with Amarex is not a reason why they would pull the plug on the conference call. Sidley would not have said to NP "Let's see...you have 20 things to discuss and there is 1 we don't want you to talk about, so let's pull the plug on everything and send people into a panic....that'll be fun, eh NP?"
The most obvious answer is actually something that would cover far more subjects that just one that NP could easily have answered "On advice of counsel, we cannot discuss "X" at this time" whatever that one thing was. Everyone KNOWS there will be settlement discussions with Amarex, so there is no reason to be so secretive that they would even be underway.
Whatever cancelled the call was more overreaching (such as parternship) than just Amarex when there were so many other things to update us on.
