A few years ago before any cancer trial was started I proposed that leronlimab could be used as a monotherapy avoiding the horrible side effects of chemotherapy. A few people including a doctor thought that was unlikely.
Aberrant myelopoiesis (production of blood cells) increases tumor cell production and tumor self protection functions. So not only is chemotherapy fighting against itself to kill off the tumor but leronlimab is fighting against the tumor promoting effects of chemotherapy. Now add in the tumor DNA repair that occurs with chemotherapy which makes the chemotherapy less effective and that leronlimab stops.
A tip of the hat to ShortsAreDead at stocktwits for posting that medical paper.

Interestingly, aberrant myelopoiesis may be reinforced by chemotherapy (CT), through a mechanism defined as CT-induced inflammation
