FDA puts hold on Denali's trial before it even gets started. Hey, when you've already approved a big pharma Alzheimer's drug that doesn't work but could kill the patient, why would you let a small company try a completely different one?

It does sounds like there may be some problems with futility -- but shouldn't that be up to the company to decide? Isn't that what clinical trials are for? If you approve a drug that causes brain bleeds, why won't you let a clinical trial proceed which does not have fatal side effects?
