This seems very possible, but the dynamics I think are far more complicated. Whenever I hear a conspiracy theory where "BP", the FDA, or and other large controlling group, I have to point out those "groups" are all fighting themselves. Gilead is competing with Moderna, Moderna is competing with Merck, etc.. When we decide that the FDA is controlled by BP, which BP? its not like they all meet and come up with a plan. Maybe the sort of do, but I guarantee Gilead wants J&J to fail in there FDA approvals and J&J wants to take market share from Gilead.

When Nader held up his 3 fingers, Gilead might have said screw that, but Pfiser might say " how much market share can't we take from Gilead?"
