Agreed, I was thinking the very same thing about Apple having to be aware of Verb when the news about their deal with Dave Meltzer came out yesterday. Obviously Apple has to do plenty of research/due diligence on anyone they are going to enter into any business deal with. As you pointed out, Dave’s involvement with Verb as Executive Producer of VerbTV was announced in October. It is a very safe bet Apple knows about VerbTV and by extension Verb, due to their new “content and distribution” deal with Dave.
To be honest I lost interest in Two Minute Drill after the first season. Although I am very interested in seeing what its third season is like where it will use Verb’s interactive video technology.
Now, when Apple sees what Dave’s interactive video content is like, why would they want him to only produce boring non-interactive content for Apple TV? Seems to be pretty easy to connect the dots here….
Of course Apple’s PR says Two Minute Drill will air on Apple TV:
“ And for the competitive entrepreneurs, his hit series "2 Minute Drill" features contestants competing each week for more than $50,000 in cash and prizes.”
Is Apple going to be satisfied just to air a non-interactive version of the third season of Two Minute Drill? Seems like they would prefer to get the interactive version of the show. It also is going to bring new viewership to the show given how many subscribers Apple TV has.
