Please consider that there is a difference between overloaded hospitals and understaffed hospitals.
Several people i know simply found different jobs after being laid off from nursing positions last year. You dont take a different job, and hop right back to the hospital after being laid off. You move on with your life.
So now we dont have staff for all the normal stuff, let alone any bump in covid. No different than the shipping containers off the coast. Small changes in capacity or regulations have a snowball effect that isnt always foreseen at the time. Unintended consequences and all.....
Many thought we were saving lives shutting down hospitals and didnt fully consider missed oncology, heart conditions, depression and a myriad of other things that got kicked to the side of the road. Now those chickens are in full roost mode, which is actually a surge of its own, outside of any covid surge. It will be a long time, if ever, that we get back to normal because of the self inflicted wound disrupting the medical community organization.
Hopefully LL is a tool that gets us back to normal, but we have a hard slog ahead since most in the regulatory community continue to push directions that didnt work the first time and ignore or actively put down LL and other positiive therapeutics and methods. Looking forward to the movie!
