I enjoyed that video… hilarious for sure. That guy is dedicated. I have learned a few tricks myself. They often try to get the bait without setting the trap off but hanging the peanuts by wire that I do coat in peanutbutter also. Makes them work a little harder and they forget to not touch the trigger. There is no second chances and bam… the door closes and off to their new home in what we will call a park like setting. Because it is a park! Just like the forested part of my property. I am sure they don’t miss me… I know I don’t miss them.
The funniest thing is when I go to release them at the park and how people watch me open the door and watch them launch off my trucks tailgate and off to the first tree and up. They come over to hear my story and ask questions. It’s usually a good conversation. Haven’t had a PETA person yet but even a PETA person would have to appreciate the relocation project instead of other methods. Just so you all know when they are in the trap they do eat the remaining nuts. When I pick up the trap and take it to my pickup they are nasty growling little tough guys and would bite you if you placed your hand in the wrong spot. It’s been a close call for me but hasn’t happened to me as of yet. I am very careful because I am sure they carry some form or diseases. Maybe even Covid like Mink do. Can’t be to careful with rodents…
