Data from public sources has been corrupted by biased collectors to further their own agendas since time immemorial. It can never be relied on when rigorous proof is required. Look at the origin of the food pyramid as a prime example. For more than 60 years billions of people used it to determine what they ate. So much for public sources and junk science.
