I totally disagree with your statement "the virus isn't controllable."
Well, technically that's true, the VIRUS isn't controllable, it will mutate as long as it has infected people to mutate in.
But the SPREAD of the virus IS controllable. It involves people masking everywhere, instead of going to football games with 80,000 of your best friends, and screaming your heads off, unmasked. It involves continuing distancing, and NOT eating indoors, maskless, in restaurants. It involves not going maskless into a grocery store and screaming and hitting the proprietor who asks you to mask up or leave.
And it involves getting vaccinated, so that if you DO get infected you probably won't go into a hospital, overstressing our already overburdened healthcare workers. The number of "excess deaths" has greatly increased because of people who aren't getting surgeries they need for cancer, or the treatment they need for heart attacks and strokes, because the beds are filled with COVID patients. When they have a choice, who are they going to treat, the young careless unvaccinated COVID patient who went to a huge concert or sports event without a mask, or the careful senior citizen who has isolated for a year but had the heart attack? They say "more years of life" and they treat the AVOIDABLY hospitalized patient, instead of the person who was careful and had an emergency.
If people would just stop screaming "Freedom! I have a right to infect you ! ! !" and bite the bullet and mask up for a few months, we would not be in this mess. The virus can't mutate if it hasn't infected someone.
