Recent Brilacidin studies - break it down:

A: Dual Activity==
Mechanistic studies revealed that brilacidin has a dual antiviral mechanism of action including ,

1. virucidal activity and
2. binding to coronavirus attachment factor HSPGs on host cell surface.

B: Understanding host targets:
Brilacidin partially loses its antiviral activity when heparin was included in the cell cultures, supporting the host-targeting mechanism.
(Key words: partially and blood thinners. )
( perhaps one of our Docs can shed more light here )

Q: what is heparin? See below

Drug combination therapy:

C:Why Remdisavir & Brilacidin?
Drug combination therapy showed that brilacidin has a strong synergistic effect with remdesivir against HCoV-OC43 in cell culture. Taken together, this study provides appealing findings for the translational potential of brilacidin as a broad-spectrum antiviral for coronaviruses including SARS-CoV-2.

HEPARIN:
Heparin is used to treat and prevent blood clots caused by certain medical conditions or medical procedures. It is also used before surgery to reduce the risk of blood clots.
