Oh I don't think it's a conspiracy; I think it's just professional jealousy. Be like you have working on a cure for a certain cancer your whole life and some guy you consider on the level of your car mechanic finds some miracle drug. It's that simple, except with the pandemic there were a whole lot of car mechanics.
