When people ask me will covid always be around, I reply that it will but when we get an effective therapeutic(s) and eliminate the potential death sentence it will no longer be talked about. Case in point: HIV/AIDS. When I started medical school in the early 90’s, HIV was an automatic death sentence! We had exactly “1” therapeutic ( much like Remdesivir), and it did not decrease mortality. Fast forward a few years and with the development of the antiviral cocktails, the death sentence was eliminated. You rarely hear HIV even mentioned anymore.
