The effort to more efectively combat Covid effectively ended before it could begin with the words:
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: I wanted to always play it down. I still like playing it down...
BOB WOODWARD: Yes.
TRUMP: ...Because I don't want to create a panic.
Scoffing at masks and social distancing, holding and attending super spreader rallies, poisoned the well, politicized the minds of his supporters, and that politicization, seasoned with junk science and misguided notions of freedom, carried over to vaccination introductions.
And so it plays out today, a country hopelessly divided; a division created through fear and ignorance.
And there are no two sides to that.
