There are still vaccinated (breakthrough) cases and unvaccinated cases of Covid here in the U.S. The vaccines that are currently being used are not preventing people from getting or spreading Covid. The world still needs a true vaccine that will eradicate the virus to the point of keeping people from getting it when exposed. Until then all potential vaccine research and development needs to proceed through the approval process until there is one (or two or three, etc.) that provide long term immunization and protection.
