My guess is that a lot of the VWAP trades were Fife - he agrees to sell so many at VWAP, and traders sell in their own accounts during the day hoping to make a profit vs. their VWAP deal with Fife at days end.

On days when Fife is selling a bunch, the stock is more likely to decline.
