It seems to me that the important thing is the individual lives, not whether it is 1 out of 500 or 1 out of 600.The most recent stat I saw was 674,810 deaths in USA. Latest population estimate is 333,286,423. That does compute to .0020247%. Total cases reported was 41,995,464 and that would be 0.001208%.
674,810 of our fellow citizens have died and that number climbs each and every day. I am pro vaccine and cleareyed enough to realize that stopping the spread of this virus is not realistic, but slowing the spread is. We have done that and are continuing to do so.
Our biggest and most shameful shortcoming has been the lack of candor from our leaders. They have hidden the truth about this virus and are still doing so.
Treatment of severe and critical patients could and should be proactive, not reactive. Doctors that I know and trust tell me that they are frustrated to no end over the threats to their careers if they even question the medical hierarchy about standards of care.
