a good read about the uncertainty of the scientific process. drug development is hard and the path to discovery winds toward regulatory approval. the development of COVID vaccines has been accomplished in record time by big pharma with significant government assistance - billions in funding and regulatory collaboration have led to the emergency use and today formal FDA approval of Pfizer's vaccine. as great as this accomplishment is, more needs to be done to ensure that the whole population is protected from SARS-CoV-2 and its dangerous variants. booster shots seem inevitable and we need to vaccinate the world. alternative vaccines are on the winding path of regulatory approval and ready to join the battle. it can't happen soon enough.
