I live in Kansas and can confirm this is true. Many ICU units in hospitals in Greater Kansas City and Wichita are at or near capacity. KC gets people from southern Missouri, which has been a very hot spot lately, but has recently begun to deny transfers so smaller hospitals in Columbia, St. Louis and Springfield have had to try to absorb.
