Checked TDA and their rates seem rather HIGH - LIBOR *plus* 1.5 - 4%

Yes. TDA's 4.09% for smaller loans is rather high. The 1.59% for larger loans isn't too bad though.
As I mentioned previously the best securities-backed loan rates are found at Interactive Brokers (which range from 1.59% to .75% depending on the size of the loan).
