From what I've read quite awhile back maraviroc changes the geometry of the receptor which hiv and various ligands can't conform too. It has been shown that some manmade ligands can bind to CCR5 even with the presence of maraviroc.
What seems most important with leronlimab is it's directly binding to the N terminus which is fairly universal to ligands and HIV.
