Agree, it's nice to have something to run an exercise on.
The next question is whether some linear combination of these symptoms shows greater sensitivity (i.e., an index - like NEWS2 is an index).
In the old days we'd run principal components on the data to see what linear comb had the largest variance. The second index that comes out is orthogonal to the first.
