Up until recently, Vietnam had one of the top three best-managed responses to this pandemic.. I'd argue only New Zealand did better. In a place where cases stayed in the hundreds for the last year, they're now clocking 1000+ new cases per day. These are new variants that are not being stopped by half-measures, so lockdowns are critical to have any chance of containing this outbreaks.
We're approaching a worst case scenario.. it's summer and the Delta variant is running rampant in the northern hemisphere.. come fall, if it's still around, and lambda manages to migrate north, there will be two super variants circulating in the northern hemisphere at the worst possible time, when everyone heads back indoors.
Again, the deaths will be at the FDA's doorstep.
