Duterte has a price, just like 99% of world "leaders". Is it any shock that he just threatened people who don't take the vaccine with jail time? It certainly shouldn't be. Leronlimab is up against the exact same forces in the Philippines that it is here.
I don't blame NP for moving along, it's certainly not his fault that politicians and bureaucrats in the Philippines are just as corrupt as they are here. Once that became clear - and watching Estrada's son clam up and start backtracking should've made it abundantly clear - if you're NP you just have to move along. Why waste any more time and money on something that clearly wasn't going to happen? In terms of him brushing it under the rug, what was he supposed to do, start ranting against the system and close the door on even the slightest chance of us ever getting an approval from anywhere? He's between a rock and a hard place.
