For a standardized dose with a drug with no safety issues you look for the optimum dose that will address the disease and cover a wide weight range which would be tilted towards a heavier weight. With a child or a morbidly obese person you would consider a dose change but most others would be covered. In our case the easiest way to choose a dose for a very low weight range or very high weight range would be a series of receptor occupancy tests
