Stacker used data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) COVID Data Tracker to rank all 50 states and Washington D.C. based on the share of their populations that have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose. Data are as of April 13, 2021.
The values reflect vaccine patients’ state of residence, not where they received a vaccine. Differences in state vaccination rates can be due to a number of factors.
Earlier this year, supply of the vaccine itself was a limiting factor; more recently, hesitancy among residents seems to be the biggest barrier . Here’s how each state has been faring now that vaccinations are open to all Americans.

Starting June 1, tourists arriving in Alaska will be able to get a free dose of vaccine at major airports. It’s part of a marketing initiative to boost tourism to the state and utilize excess supplies.
