As written the program describes goals to be achieved. It is future tense, aspirational. Drugs in development at this time, Brilacidin included, will be assessed. If identified as a therapeutic with merit and potential, assessed candidates would be eligible for funding. The process to be included in that assessment is not detailed in the announcement.
The program describes an effort to enhance and fund therapeutic development on a go-forward basis. There is implied criticism, or at least acknowledgement in hindsight, of past methods of research, test design and development support. I imagine there will be a fair degree of oversight and methodology required of participants in the funding program.
I emailed the announcement to Innovation Pharmaceuticals yesterday. I hope they investigate and engage if appropriate.
