Protection layers for polymer modulators/waveguides
Abstract
A polymer waveguide/modulator including a lower cladding layer, a polymer core, an upper cladding layer, a first protection/barrier layer sandwiched between the lower cladding layer and the core, and a second protection/barrier layer sandwiched between the core and the upper cladding layer.......
For the technical-minded... what does this do/expand for LWLG? From my simple understanding, it improves the robustness, reliability and makes packaging/copackaging more attractive to potential partners (photonic component manufacturers & foundries). Perhaps this is a reason that motivated Lebby to be involved in the EPIC packaging discussions such as yesterday( I haven't watched that meeting yet).
