The reason some connect mask wearing to how they perceive masculinity is because they associate masks with one emotion: fear.

I don’t wear a mask out of fear. Even before I was vaccinated. A big part of it is to stop the spread. It’s also to show respect and unity to everyone else in my community. We’re in this together.

Ironically, I view many anti-maskers as the scared ones. If they’re seen in a mask they’re scared they won’t look brave and masculine. Most of the time they just look selfish and I assume they’re not very smart.
