SAF,
There are 10's of thousands of investments out there. Not sure what your objectives are, mine are: to make some money and to contribute.
The next questions are How? When ??. I normally invest in companies with a good Risk/Reward ratio.
Why CYDY? Well, simply, I can't find a better R/R out there. I own stock of some other companies but this is my main investment. And has proven very beneficial (economically).
I believe at the end the science will prevail, so instead of being "optimistic" as you put it, I read papers and try to understand the science (unfortunately am not a doctor so is an uphill task).
If I understand it correctly, I will be achieve my objectives. If not, is all my fault (my ignorance).
Addressing your question about correlating optimist with FDA, well, I don't believe that FDA is doing a good job. I get it, it is necessary, but it's financing makes it tainted and probably corrupt. Some disagree, which is fine. But if one invests in BioTech one has to "deal" with it.
I am doing it stoically
But the world is large and not everybody is corrupt. And, eventually, even FDA will have to face the science.
In regards to time: I am an investor (have been in CYDY for years now) and am willing to wait, however I think we are very close to being a revenue company (have lots of meat in the BBQ, so to speak). Any indication will have a large impact.
In regards to financing, well ... we either survive or we don't (that is why risk is not zero). I believe we are just fine for a pre-revenue biotech. In the worst case scenario there are 100M of shares out there that are worth around $300 Million at current SP, maybe less by now, but you get the point.
What matters is if we can probe what the science says we can do. Of course the latter might be wrong ... but, please tell me: what better ground can one get ??

How do you correlate your optimism with the FDAS drumbeat of show P value or buzz off? It doesn’t sound like they are interested in “hopeful “ signs, “seems to” or “let’s assume” ...and how do you think they get where you think they are going without revenue from covid or HIV? Approvals for cancer are what?...five years away? All the while Tesla Match etc are doubling and tripling? Pitch me cydy as a new investor...
