What is KT Tape Up To?
I received my GMA Recovery+ Wave yesterday. KT has done an excellent job of product presentation. The White and Orange device set into a Black tray is just as impressive as the photos. A note from the KT CEO, 'Safe Easy Tested', is a nice touch.
What surprised me was the extent of the modifications to the circuit board. KT could have had BIEL just place a shorter life battery in the ActiPatch or use a longer life battery in the 168 hour Trial device. Instead they made noticeable changes in several areas. The most obvious is the addition of a 'J107' JFET Chip. This is a relatively expensive Chip, 28 cents each in quantities of 25k, when the ActiPatch is rumored to have a production cost below $2 .
So why did KT spend the money to revamp the electronics and raise their cost per unit when a simpler, lower cost, reliable option was available?
Hopefully we find out soon and the answer involves the expansion of the Recovery+ Wave Product Line.
