A tiny company in debt before the pandemic and with no experience in healthcare is set to earn a fortune in the Government’s mass testing drive.
Disruptive Nanotechnology Ltd is the sole distributor for the multi-billion-pound scheme inviting the public to take two free Covid tests per week.
The British directors of the Northamptonshire-based firm – a former shoe retailer and a chartered surveyor – will reportedly receive a ‘few pence’ for every test sold.
The company supplying the tests to Disruptive Nanotechnology is Californian-based Innova Medical Group, which has already delivered millions to schools and NHS and care home staff.
Innova is set to receive a bumper payday as it ups production to up to 50million tests a day.
The US company is already believed to be the largest single recipient of payments from UK Government contracts during the pandemic, reported by the Sunday Times last month to total £2.8billion.
As the company’s sole UK distributor, Disruptive Nanotechnology is also set to earn a fortune.
The firm, run by founder Kimberley Thonger and former surveyor Charles Palmer, who joined last summer, now operates under the name Tried&Tested.
The company’s last accounts, published in 2019, show it had no reserves and debts of £2,368.
This goes down to £6 per unit if 1,000 boxes are bought at once.
