How would you invest in it? Is that a trick question? 
In my quest for answers i've ran across two or three sites that offered services to take your video and add links to them. And like you say, it's an expensive process. With Verb, ANYONE can do it extremely cheap. This is either going to put these folks out of business or they'll have to adapt in some way.
On the topic of shoppable entertainment, how about the Antiques Road Show? You know the one where you take your heirloom to get it appraised? What if they put a link up so you could make an offer on that person's heirloom in real time and watch their reactions as the offers came in?
And American Pickers could do the same thing with the farmer while they're crawling around in his barn. I bet some of those farmers would change their minds when those offers start rolling in!
There must be a million ways to use verb and get real entertainment too.
