The powers that be in most all authoritarian or paternalistic entities strive to maintain their entitled status by setting exclusionary rules they call standards which enable their continuity in power.
PCR Tests were the "Gold Standard" until large scale use revealed the high number of false positives from too many cycle thresholds and WHO and the CDC were forced to order the CT to be reduced.
So antigen tests have only recently been seen to be the best choice and the FDA could be unsure how to set a standard specific to them. I believe the solution to worry about the accuracy of false positives is just to run a second antigen test more carefully and see if you get the same result.
I agree that antigen tests have proved their value with their ability to detect the most virulent at an early stage, as soon as 3 days. I also can't understand why the FDA hasn't approved INNOVA'S tests.
