Shorts selling naked shares. I learned from the GME saga that's going on that hedge funds can carry naked shares for 21 days before having to close their position or result in FTDs. The mechanism of how they do this may not be the same for OTC stocks, but I'm sure there are easier ways for them to do so for OTC stocks.
What happens when you overwhelm demand with unlimited supply created out of thin air? As you say, it would be absurd for long investors to sell unless motivated to do so by unrelenting downward pressure on the SP. Easier to get out of the way when the point is made that the crooks aim to take the SP down no matter what. Investors like me who know this is temporary would rather choose to HODL and not give the crooks the satisfaction.
