For me, it's because the FDA is acting like this a new round of boner pills being brought to market.
You can't be claiming this is a pandemic, watch people die from a lack of effective treatments, say in public that they need to be less strict on stats and p-value, setup and EUA system to get around the requirements for full approval, then hold back the only promising therapeutic.
It's either an emergency or it's not. Not emergency rules for big donors, stringent rules for everyone else.
