$RLFTF OU2 DD (opinion) via Ya-00: There is no magic pill. Merck’s molnupiravir is not quite the “cure” as the phase 2 results show a possible 50% reduction in serious illness from CV19.
While very promising to help reduce cases if the results hold true, antivirals as such have had a mixed bag of effectiveness.
I’m a glad they are making progress but this is far from over. Plenty of need for Zyesami (Aviptadil) in the battle to treat this disease.
As I shared yesterday, the holy grail is Long Hauler SARS-CoV-2 PASC that is now afflicting 30% of all patients. The treatment for them is non existent, except for off label use of existing drugs and the treatment course may be quite long - months to years to improve the condition. Imagine if Zyesami is one of those drugs!
Glad Merck is on the trail for a pill treatment and I sincerely hope they succeed, but addressing the lungs is a big niche and this little company could be something quite special overnight.
