The obvious answer is even the slightest rumor about oil flowing. Aside from that someone was buying lots of the 3.5's and the 3.3's today and flashing 1 million share bid support periodically just below the high bid to let the bears know that they have some fire power.

I am content to buy the cheap 3's as long as the bears are willing to extend themselves going short down here, as this thing will reverse hard. The 200 week moving average is holding just fine, the 10 Q should be out shortly, and the stock has yet to have a monthly close below 4 cents since April of last year.
