P.1 is a direct result of:
- a rushed, only semi-effective vaccine
- incomplete vaccination / coverage
- failure to maintain a perimeter
- complacency and disinhibition ("we've already had it / we must have herd immunity"
and I'd wager, all of these major variants likely have the other worldwide pandemic currently ongoing to thank, for creating so many immunocompromised hosts. The reason these mega-variants are coming from places like South Africa, Brazil, UK, California, NYC is no surprise.
Kind of bizarre that there is likely one solution to both pandemics.
