I think at the time, the DSMC's recommendation was seen as gravy, as a way to meet stat sig on PE much more quickly. CYDY chose to forego this opportunity due to the accelerated enrollment efforts. However, in hindsight more closely considering the DSMC's recommendation and in light of the RLFTF PR, I've begun to question whether or not the trial was in danger of achieving the required number of events (deaths within 28 days) and if CYDY had done the 75% review, there would have been more assurance the number of events were adequate or if the 42 day look was needed to get the adequate power.
