PICC- Peripherally inserted central Catheter. This is not a quick IV that takes a minute to place. It is a sterile procedure that usually requires an ultrasound machine. When we call for a PICC line on our floor it usually takes an hour from start to finish. Kidney function must be OK. PT/INR (bleeding times must be OK). There are some restrictions with this line.
