Sorry, can you tell me where I get it wrong. It seems to me if the mortality goes down, that its not good for our trial.
So lets take the 81 on the lower end of your range.
30% @Placebo would be 24
that would leave the treatment arm with 57 death, from 262 patients, and a mortality rate of 21,75%.
So that would be a reduction of less than 30%, which would give a higher p-value then 0.05 given the small trial size.
