This is how I see this pandemic playing out. Therapeutics will make it manageable, which is critical considering this is likely to become endemic.

We need a drug, or combination of drugs can reduce mortality by 70-90%, and the same drugs, or others can mitigate severe symptoms and long haulers. While vaccines are used to protect the vulnerable (and hopefully) slow the spread.

Over time we will build resistance to this virus, and it will become significantly less serious.
